New Music Monday. This week we have a band with a similar name, and the same record label as one of my favorite, now defunct band, that was formed by my guy, Tuk Smith. I may be the only one, but I find it very interesting that The Bites have been signed by Earache Records. You see, Tuk’s band, BITERS was also on Earache for a couple of albums. Anyway, The Bites have been dubbed as “Hollywood party rock-n-rollers.” Their debut album “Squeeze” isn’t due out until this summer – July 14th to be specific. Taken directly from the Earache webpage, their new album…”resurrects the style, hop and swagger of early rock’n’roll, displaying the no-nonsense attitude of The Hives and the sheer recklessness of Mötley Crüe.” For this tune, the first single from the album, I disagree with the latter, but do agree with the former (that would be comparing it to The Hives). Nothing groundbreaking here, just straight forward rock with a hint of blues and rockabilly. In fact, that’s what front man Jordan Tyler wanted for the upcoming album – to let everyone know that rock is NOT dead.
