Doc’s New Music Pick - The Chelsea Curve

New Music Monday. Where do you think a band that calls themselves The Chelsea Curve is from? The Doc’s first thought was England, because as Mott the Hoople says, “Chelsea girls are the best in the world for company.” Anyway, this three piece is from Boston. The Doc is not sure how long they have been playing their brand of Mod Pop, but this single is the lead track from their debut album on Red on Red Records. The Doc digs the retro sound, and thinks the lead singer sounds a little bit like Chrissy Hynde. With that said, the Doc did see an article that described their style as a throwback garage rock sound comparable to The Jam, Pretenders and Husker Du. I am not so sure about those comparisons, but they do have a tune that was originally titled “What would Paul Weller do?” Dig it.
